Clive is an 8-9 year old male Cross-Breed. He is fostered in Gorleston-On-Sea (FR055). Clive has spent so many years in shelters there’s no record of how he even came to be in them. Most of those years were spent in the Mizil public shelter where every day was as awful as the last. When that shelter was set to close and the dogs were due to be killed in an inhumane way a rescuer stepped in and saved all 250 of them in one weekend. Since that day we have done our best to back up that incredible feat by taking as many of those dogs from her as we possibly could and Clive is one of around thirty that are still not in a forever home.
On arrival to the UK, Clive was understandably traumatised and frightened. He flinched when hands came towards him and his eyes were wide with fear. Two months on after undergoing sucessful chemotherapy and being with his foster family, Clive has begun to put his difficult past behind him and is enjoying his new life. He now loves any fuss that is offered although he won’t ask for it and he is settling in to the routine of family life. He is taking more interest in the other dogs in the house and enjoys their company. He is quiet and clean in the house and doesn’t mind being left as he loves his sleep.
Clive also likes children. Out and about, Clive walks nicely on the lead. He really enjoys his walks, especially when off leads where he breaks into short joyful runs and has even shown glimpses of his playful side. Clive is still nervous of strangers and dogs he doesn’t know and will walk further to avoid them if they are too active or noisy, he also avoids cats. His foster mum is teaching him to take treats gently which he is doing well with and to come when called, not so successfully. Although he never strays far he does like to explore. Clive is a lovely affectionate boy who would prefer a quiet home where he is the only dog or there is another calm dog.
It’s clear to see that this boy has huge potential and who knows maybe he even had a home all those years ago. The years of cruelty and hardship at the Mizil shelter may have made him cautious of humans but it hasn’t broken his spirit entirely and he’s in there just waiting to be freed by a kind and patient human.
