Mabel is an eight year old male German Shepherd Dog. Mabel came into our care a few weeks ago from a private shelter in Romania where she had been for around eighteen months. Prior to this she had living as a stray in an industrial area but never let any human get close to her. Mabel fostered near Norwich fr007. We visited Mabel in the shelter when we went to Romania in July. She was cowered in the corner of the pen and despite having been there so long had made no progress at all in trusting people.
Since being in the UK Mabel has learned to trust a little more. She is still very wary of strangers but is enjoying walks and plays enthusiastically with other dogs in her foster home. Being a purebred dog almost certainly means that Mabel had a home once and was probably abused by her owner before being abandoned. All she has learnt from humans in the past is to fear and distrust them and it’s going to take time to reverse those lessons in her new home. Love and understand will conquer her fears in time but we do need to find a special someone who is willing to earn her trust.
Mabel unfortunately has heart worm but will come with tablets to be taken on monthly for the next 18 months. Our adoption fee is £250. They are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless they are too young). if you are interested, please call between 9am and 6pm.
