Zoja is a 5 year old female Cross-Breed. She is medium-sized, spayed female dog (shoulder height: 50 cm, weight: 22 kg). She was left at the vets by her owner to be euthanized because she walked through the glass of the closed patio door on New Year’s Eve, terrified of the fireworks nearby. She’s spent the past 2.5 years in a crowded shelter and it is time for her to find a loving family who will look after her and love her for the rest of her life.
Zoja is a very loving doggie who will want to follow you everywhere. She is very human centred and does not like being left alone. She is an escape artist in the shelter who climbs fences and is regularly seen sunbathing on the roof of the kennels. As per experience, however, this does not mean she would try to escape from her new home at all. It simply means that she is not getting any attention and is missing the bond with people who actually care about her.
She is a highly intelligent and well trainable dog who deserves much more than this. She is getting on well with all dogs at the shelter but does not really need their company for happiness, she can be wary of some of them. She would rather stick around people most of the time. She is sweet and beautiful who could be a real pleasure to live with for the right family. She is definitely not a kennel dog and she clearly shows she does not belong there.
Zoja is terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms and she’s desperately looking for human company. She tends to hide in the bathroom if she is let in the house. She is not taken on walks currently and training her to walk on and off the lead is down to her new family. We are unsure about her house training needs as she lives in an outdoor kennel currently.
Zoja would be best suited for a family without children who could spend precious time with her and would not leave her alone for long periods of time. She wants to be included in family life and be treated as a member of the family. She would happily be your partner in your activities and accompany you on holidays or adventurous walks whenever you feel like it! She could live with a friendly doggie mate but she would probably be happiest being the only dog in the family so she gets all the attention.
As all rescue dogs, she will need love, patience, time and commitment from her adopting family. A secure 6 foot fencing is a must in her new home as a standard requirement when adopting a rescue dog.
Zoja is currently in Hungary and can travel to the UK as soon as the right family’s found for her. She comes fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea and tick treated, with an EU passport and DEFRA approved paperwork.
