Eric is a medium 10 year old male Cross-Breed. He has had a pretty horrible life up until a few weeks ago and we are just hoping we can find him a place to be spoilt rotten in the time he has left. From what we can piece together it seems that Eric spent most of his life living on the end of a chain in a home in a village in Romania. Here he would be fed only some days when anyone could be bothered to take him anything.
Recently he was taken from that life of hell and pretty much lived the same life of neglect but without the chain. Here he was attacked by local sheepdogs who left him almost dead and he was unable to get up or walk for two weeks. At this point he was properly rescued and taken to a place of safety where he could recover to some extent before travelling to us.
Eric arrived extremely thin and reluctant to trust anybody, who could blame him!? Within a week he was a completely different dog and he is now extremely affectionate and cuddly with us all. He is still underweight but is gaining steadily whilst having rice and scrambled egg added to his daily diet. He loves his food and will bark and wag his tail furiously when he sees his food coming.
Physically he is probably as improved as possible. The years of neglect and abuse have taken their toll and he struggles to walk too far. He hates having a lead put on but will walk on it if essential. Ideally he would just love a garden to potter around in and maybe just a slow plod round the block every few days for a change of scenery.
Eric is not bothered if he shares his home with another dog or not, he gets on with everyone but doesn’t particularly bond with anyone. Eric is mostly clean indoors but does have the odd accident due to his age.
We’re not kidding ourselves that Eric has years ahead of him but we would like whatever time he does have to be jam packed full of love and luxury. We can’t buy back all the wasted years for him but we can make sure that what’s ahead of him counts! Eric fostered Norwich Norfolk.
Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
Please note that it is Safe Rescue policy that all dogs adopted from us must wear a slip lead to be walked for the duration of their lives. Too many dogs are lost from slipping out of collars and harnesses and many of our dogs are timid due to past ill treatment and likely to panic whilst out and about. It is absolutely okay to use these things additionally to slip leads but not instead of. We also request that extendable retractable leads are never used on our dogs. If you are opposed to slip leads, please do not enquire about our dogs as this is not negotiable. Thank you for understanding. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
